Service in the sanctuary can be a path to holiness for men, as well as being a way to support the Parish in a practical, active way. There is a continuing need for men of any age (or responsible older boys if accompanied by their fathers), especially at the main Sunday Masses. Instruction and training are provided. Please contact Robert Ramirez at 504.460.5041; e-mail: email@example.com

Parishioners and friends of the parish are cordially invited to become a part of the music program here at St. Patrick’s. This parish is well known for its commitment to serious Catholic classical music, and we would like as many people to participate as are able to do so.
The following choral groups will begin rehearsals in September:
- St. Patrick’s Parish Choir, made up of volunteers, will be a mixed group (men and women), who will sing regularly for the Sunday Masses. Anyone aged 16 or over is welcome to be a member.
- The Schola Cantorum, a men’s group, will focus on Gregorian chant. Men from the Parish Choir, and any other men, are welcome to join.
- The Boys’ Choir and the Girls’ Choir, will allow children in the third grade and older to learn singing and musical skills through the Ward Method of music instruction, which was designed for Catholic schools and is based on principles of Gregorian chant.
The only entrance requirements for any of these choirs are the desire to sing and the willingness to commit to regular attendance. Instruction will be offered in singing technique and music reading. Adults who wish to join, or parents whose children may be interested, are urged to contact the organist and choirmaster,
Andrew Mills at (504) 493-5879.
In its Aug. 21 issue, the Clarion Herald would like to publish personal, spiritual reflections from parishioners and friends about the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. The reflections should be short, no more than 250 words and be submitted before the deadline:

A warm welcome is extended to Mr. B. Andrew Mills, St. Patrick’s new organist and choirmaster, who has arrived and is settling in to our very warm city this August 2010. As summer vacation time draws to an end, a welcoming reception will take place so all of St. Patrick’s parishioners can meet and welcome Andrew to our church parish and city.

Reverend Monsignor Robert I. Guste, a wonderful priest and friend of St. Patrick’s, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, August 3, 2010. May his soul rest in peace. Please pray for the consolation for all who mourn him. Behold a great priest who in his days pleased God.
