The second collection next weekend will be taken for the benefit of Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans. CCANO is one of the largest health and human service providers in the Gulf South, a not-for-profit umbrella agency of multiple programs and ministries that serve the poor and vulnerable population of our community, regardless of religion, race, color or economic status. CCANO serves the civil parishes of Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, Plaquemines, St. Charles, St. John the Baptist, Washington, and St. Tammany.
The Eucharistic Adoration Society’s First Friday Devotions will be held on Friday, February 7, 2014 at St. Patrick’s Church. Eucharistic Adoration, Rosary and Confessions will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by Holy Mass in the Extraordinary Form at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is invited. Security provided.

Please pick up a schedule, in the vestibule, or download a copy here, of the street closures around St. Patrick’s Church during the early Sunday morning hours of February 2, 2014. Some of the streets affected will be reopened at 9:00a.m., the entire route near St. Patrick’s will be open by 10:45a.m.
Also, on the reverse side of the schedule is the St. Patrick’s Church Access Pass to be placed on the dashboard and presented at metering points as needed or requested by police.
Allow extra travel time to reach church as road closures may cause congestion in downtown area on Sunday morning.
The traditional Blessing of the Throats will take place at the Masses on Monday, February 3, 2014, the feast of St. Blaise. Blessed candles, to be used in the home, will also be available in the church.
On Sunday, February 2, 2014, the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary/Candlemas there will be a time change in the Mass schedule. The regular 9:30 a.m. Mass will start at 9:15 a.m., note that the time change applies only to this date.

Sunday, 26 January, at 4:00 p.m., distinguished young French organist Thomas Kientz will present a concert here at St. Patrick’s. A native of Alsace, M. Kientz is a student at the Paris Conservatory and choir organist at Strasbourg Cathedral; he is in New Orleans for a few months serving as artist-in-residence at Christ Church Cathedral. We are most honored to welcome him to St. Patrick’s. The concert is free and open to the public; everyone is cordially invited to attend!

This year’s celebration will not be a Mass, but a Prayer Service. Attendance at Mass for Sunday obligation will have to be met within one’s parish.
