Solemn Vespers and Benediction: March 10, 2013

Sunday, March 10, 2013 at 4:00 p.m .Please join us this Rose Sunday in Lent (Lætare or “Rejoice” Sunday) for  Solemn Vespers (evening prayer) offered with the special intention of the cardinals gathering at the conclave to elect the new pope. The service includes hymns, chanted Psalms, sacred Scripture, prayers, and the singing of the Canticle of Our Lady, the Magnificat. The afternoon culminates with Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament. All are most welcome to attend.

After the noon Mass on February 28, St. Patrick’s will have Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at 12:30, Rosary at 12:45, and Solemn Benediction and Te Deum at 1:00pm in thanksgiving for Pope Benedict XVI.

Rock ‘n’ Roll New Orleans Marathon & 1/2 – February 24

Next week the Rock ‘n’ Roll New Orleans Marathon & 1/2 will take place. Because of this event, travel in the CBD will be restricted on Sunday morning February 24, 2013. The New Orleans Police Department has been advised of St. Patrick’s location inside of the marathon’s route, and of our arrangement with race organizers to allow access to designated route crossings for those parishioners attending the Sunday morning Masses. The access pass MUST BE DISPLAYED ON THE DASHBOARD OF THE CAR if you intend to cross the race route. Copies of the official access pass are available in the vestibule of the church. Please follow the directions carefully, observing all of the regulations.

St. Patrick’s Church to Sponsor a St. Joseph Altar – Tuesday, March 19

The cooking and baking committees are being organized by Mary Trentacoste while the men of Ozanam Inn construct the altar. Many hands and recipes, along with any talent that can be offered, are needed to prepare the altar in honor of St. Joseph.

Monetary donations are also being accepted to defray the cost of food and building the altar. Please make checks payable to Ozanam Inn; place them in the collection basket or deliver to the rectory office.
