Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion

Retrouvaille/Rediscovery Program

A Retrouvaille/Rediscovery program for couples experiencing marital difficulties will be held in Lafayette on the weekend of Aug. 24-26, and in Baton Rouge on Sept. 21-23. Retrouvaille is a program sponsored by the Catholic Church that applies to couples living either separated, divorced or disconnected lives who want to save their marriage. The program consists of a weekend followed by six follow-up sessions along with a monthly support group. The next element of the Year of Renewal: Offering a Worthy Sacrifice of Praise, will be a series of homilies on the Mass beginning on the 17th Sunday of the Church Year (July 29, 2012) and ending on the 21st Sunday (August 26, 2012). Archbishop Aymond has asked that all priests and deacons preach on the Mass each of these weekends.

Delivering Food, Shelter and Hope to the Poorest of the Poor.

On the weekend of August 4 & 5, 2012 we will welcome Monsignor Ted Bertagni who will be here on behalf of Cross Catholic Outreach., a Christ-centered ministry founded to help the poor throughout the world. The organization assist the desperate families through a network of church-based ministries: feeding centers, orphanages, schools, clinics, job-training centers and home-building programs. They also serve as a disaster relief organization when the need arises.

By meeting the urgent needs of the poor with a cost-effective approach to purchasing and distribution, Cross Catholic ensures that more of your contribution reaches the poor.

Black and Indian Missions

Evangelization and 125 years of service among the Black, Indian, Eskimo and Aleute communities has been the singular purpose of the Black and Indian Mission Collection. The funds from the annual appeal have been responsible for continuing the Church’s faithful support in the evangelization needs of the Black and Native American communities in the United States. At all Masses this weekend the second collection will be taken to help support this special mission. Please be generous.
