Epiphany Chalk – To Bless Our Homes

The blessing of Epiphany chalk, to be used in the blessing of our homes, will take place after all Masses this weekend. Everyone is invited to take a packet of blessed chalk, with instructions and special prayers.

The Feast of the Epiphany at the Children’s Museum

Father Stanley Klores, is sponsoring an event for home school students and their families at the Louisiana Children’s Museum on Sunday, January 2, 2011. The students and their families are invited to visit the museum after the 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Masses; refreshments, provided by St. Patrick’s will be served from 11 a.m.—1:00 p.m.

St. Patrick’s guests will receive a special reduced rate of admittance of only $3.50 per child or adult. No reservations ar required for this event. For more information call the rectory.

Gregorian Chant at St. Patrick’s

The Church Music Association of America will conduct its annual Winter Gregorian Chant Intensive Program here at St. Patrick’s, January 3-7. Clergy, singers, and music directors from all over the country will travel to New Orleans to receive basic and advanced instruction in chant from two of the leading experts in the Church today.

The week will culminate in a Mass celebrated at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 7, in the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite, at which the program participants will provide the music. The Mass will be followed by a solemn Te Deum in honor of Our Lady of Prompt Succor, performed in the French manner with organ interludes alternating with the sung chant. Everyone is most welcome to attend the Mass and Te Deum.

In Memory Of – 2011 Envelopes

Names are now being accepted for the 2011 In Memory Of listing on the back of the Sunday Bulletin. Envelope forms, found in the vestibule of the church, should be completed and returned to the rectory office no later than Friday, January 7, 2011. The completed envelope can be deposited in any Mass collection basket or hand delivered or mailed to the rectory office.

Christmas Flowers for the High Altar

Envelopes for the annual giving of flowers to be placed on the high altar during the Christmas season, are available in the vestibule. The listings will be published in the Christmas bulletin and the midnight Mass program. The final date for submitting a request is Wednesday, December 15, 2010.

Festival of Lessons and Carols

Sunday, December 12, 2010 at 7:30 p.m.
St. Patrick’s Chamber Choir will perform a service of lessons and carols. This service was first performed at King’s College, Cambridge on Christmas Eve 1918. The service will be by candlelight, and accompanied by organ. A collection will be taken to benefit the Music Fund at St. Patrick’s; reception to follow in rectory. Security will be provided.
