First Holy Communion – May 9, 2010

May 8, 2010—First reconciliation, early afternoon.

May 9, 2010—First Holy Communion will take place at the 11:00 a.m.
Sunday Mass (Mother’s Day).

Parents of children who will make their first Holy Communion at St. Patrick’s Church should contact the rectory office as soon as possible.

Confessions will be heard for 30 minutes before all Masses

7:30 p.m. Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper and
Solemn Procession to the Altar of Repose
Watch at the Altar of Repose until midnight.
(Security provided)
Following evening Mass, a light meal of basil soup and bread will be available for those remaining for adoration.

Good Friday, April 2, 2010
Special blessing with the Relic of the True Cross at all Good Friday services.
7:30 a.m. Church opens for visitation.
12:00 noon Stations of the Cross.
3:00 p.m. Solemn Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion and
Veneration of the Cross.

8:00 p.m. Presentation. Buddy Noel, the Director of Religious Education at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church will speak on the topic of how the celebration of the Liturgy in the Latin West and the Greek East reflects differences and similarities of belief. Mr. Noel holds a Master of Arts in Historical Theology from Notre  Dame Seminary. His Master’s Thesis was entitled “Eucharistic Theology in the Churches of East and West Syria.”

A new prayer group for cancer patients, and anyone with a serious illness, has started meeting in the parish center (Richland & W. Esplanade) of St. Clement of Rome Church. The prayer group meets every Thursday from 7:00 p.m.—8:00 p.m. This group is also open to caregivers or family and friends of the sick.

A Service of Darkness, by Hal Hopson will be presented in St. Patrick’s Church on Laetarae Sunday, March 14, at 7:00 p,m,. This program is a meditation on the Passion and Death of Jesus Christ with passages from Holy Scripture being read by lectors, musical selections performed by St.  Patrick’s Concert Choir and hymns sung by the congregation. All are invited.
